This garage was an 858-space facility built to support the development of the Poinsett Plaza Office Building with historic bank, the renovated Poinsett Hotel, and the condominium development in the existing Downtown Baptist Church. It was limited to six levels, one below grade and five above grade to maintain the scale of the adjacent structures. This precast concrete structure has a one-way circulation system in the outside bays with two-way circulation on the sloped center ramps.
Due to its location adjacent to the existing historic buildings, the garage was designed to minimize its appearance as a parking structure and provide different façade treatments to blend in with each of these adjacent buildings, including a brick veneer to match the hotel, and a pre-cast concrete façade to blend in with the bank and the Downtown Baptist Church.
