The 225,000 square-foot BI-LO Center has a seating capacity of 15,100 for center stage concerts and is designed to handle a wide variety of sporting and entertainment events. It replaced the 30-year old Memorial Auditorium and has served as the home for an East Coast Hockey League team, an arena football team, and a NBA Development League franchise. The building program included a team store, hospitality room, 30 private suites, two party suites, 600 club seats, and club lounge all accessible from the single concourse. It has created tremendous building value by providing the amenities of a major league sports facility for the cost of a minor league arena.
This project was completed by Kenneth M. Betsch, AIA, while a Managing Principal for Odell Associates, Inc.
"In my position as Executive Vice President of the development team, I worked closely with Ken and can attest to his capability in the planning and design of all aspects of sports arenas. His dedication to the arena project was unmatched by any other team member. He made himself readily available by phone and on-site to respond to the needs of the development team. He demonstrated excellent communication skills in making presentations to very diverse community groups."
