This 4,000 square-foot expansion / renovation of the existing dining hall was designed to give the University the opportunity to expand its seating capacity from 294 to 620, provide an area for the Edwards Express (convenience store), and upgrade the interior image of the entire dining hall. A new tiered gypsum wallboard ceiling with its perimeter light cove and grid of drywall beams ties the old and new dining spaces together.
The glass curtain wall of the expansion floods the space with natural light in the day time and highlights the dining hall's activities in the evenings. The new addition was designed to provide a new upgraded exterior image for this portion of the existing Strom Thurmond Building.
