This renovation/expansion was planned in conjunction with a market feasibility study done by the Strategic Advisory Group to upgrade and expand the existing Kansas Expocentre, a 25 year-old sports, entertainment, livestock, and exhibition venue to keep it competitive in its market.
The implementation plan called for a phased approach to the improvements to include deferred maintenance, a concourse expansion, new lobby addition, support area renovations, and parking lot expansions. The building program also included construction of a 31,500 square-foot exhibition hall and a 260,000 square-foot livestock facility to include two show arenas, renovation of show arena into an exercise arena, and expansion of the existing stall barn. The buildings are all linked by a new glass enclosed pre-function area.
